Simple Freelance Contract Template (Copy & Paste)

You don't need a 20-page legal document. You just need something that says "I do work, you pay money."

The "No-Nonsense" Agreement

Copy this into a Google Doc, fill in the blanks, and send it to your client.

FREELANCE SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN: [Your Name] ("Freelancer") AND: [Client Name] ("Client") DATE: [Date] 1. SERVICES I will provide the following services: - [Deliverable 1] - [Deliverable 2] 2. TIMELINE I will deliver the work by [Date], provided I have everything I need from you. 3. PAYMENT - Total Fee: $[Amount] - Deposit: 50% upfront ($[Amount]) - Balance: 50% upon completion ($[Amount]) 4. REVISIONS This price includes [Number] rounds of revisions. Additional revisions will be charged at $[Rate]/hour. 5. OWNERSHIP You own the work once I am paid in full. Until then, I own it. Signed, [Your Name] [Client Name]

Why keep it simple?

Clients are scared of long contracts. A simple, one-page agreement is easy to read, easy to sign, and still offers 90% of the protection you need.
